Home-Baked Vanilla Cake Without All Purpose Flour (Maida)

Vanilla flour cake recipe (serves 3-4 ):

  • Wheat Flour - 2 cups / 240 grams
  • Powdered Sugar - 2 cups / 400 grams Powdered
  • Eggs - 3 (3 bananas if you want an eggless cake)
  • Refined Oil -  150 ml
  • Milk -   100 ml
  • Curd/buttermilk -  100 ml
  • Vanilla Essence - 1 tbsp
  • Baking Powder - 2 tsp
  • Baking Soda - 1 tsp
  • Salt - ½ tsp

Baking Step:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F or 180°C for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, mix your dry ingredients first. Take a bowl and add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix all the ingredients.
  3. In another bowl mix all your liquid ingredients. Add softened butter, egg/mashed bananas, oil, vanilla extract, curd and milk. Add milk slowly in small portions till the whole mixture is free of any lumps.
  4. Now add your wet ingredients to your dry ingredients in small batches and do not overmix the batter. You will get thin batter and that’s our goal.
  5. Now take a baking pan and butter the pan, pour your batter into the pan, and smooth the top.
  6. Bake this mixture for 30-35 minutes, use a toothpick to poke the sponge in the middle - if it comes out clean your cake is done.
  7. Let the cake cool outside the oven for 10 minutes to let it cool down.
