Delicious Ways To Have Croissants – Types Of Croissant Fillings

What's better than a warm, flaky, buttery croissant? A croissant with a delicious filling! While plain croissants taste great with tea or coffee, croissants with filling can also be enjoyed because their filling packs a savoury punch. You can enjoy store-bought croissants with different croissant fillings or mix in your fillings to give a delicious update to your favourite croissant.

Here are some of the most delicious types of croissant fillings that you can try:

Nutella and Strawberry Croissants

Nutella and strawberries taste great with croissants. The tangy strawberries balance out the sweetness of the Nutella, and both ingredients complement the biscuity flavour of the croissants. Next, cut your croissant in half, spread some Nutella on the cut sides, and then add sliced strawberries. Put the two halves together, and voila! Your delicious croissant is ready to eat!

Croissant Breakfast Boat

To make this dish:

  1. Cut in the centre of a large croissant and use your fingers to separate the edges and create a gap.
  2. Mix the eggs, scallions, mushrooms, and cheese, and pour the mixture into the gaps—season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cover the top of the croissant with aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 190 degrees Celsius for 20-25 minutes.
  4. Serve hot.

Croissant French Toast

To make French toast, you can use croissants instead of bread. Cut your croissants in half and set them aside. Whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, salt and vanilla essence in a bowl. Dip half of them in this mixture and then fry them with butter. Fry till golden brown from both sides. You can enjoy Croissant French Toast with fresh fruit, whipped cream or maple syrup!

Croissant Aux Amandes

Also known as almond croissants, they are made with an almond cream filling and garnished with sliced almonds. The croissants are then baked again until they attain a crispy texture. The croissant had a horizontal slit dividing it in half where it was lined with a light layer of frangipane. But since the sugar shell solidified, the croissant remained crispy—not because of a flaky texture, but because of the hardened sugar. It was very sweet and intensely flavored with rum. Some air pockets were inside, but the layering compressed into frangipane, producing a mainly dense interior.

Croissant Caprese Sandwich

This nutritious sandwich is perfect to satiate your hunger pangs. Cut your croissant in half. Apply pesto sauce followed by slices of mozzarella cheese, sun-dried or cherry tomatoes, and arugula or basil leaves. Spread some melted butter on the croissant and toast in the oven for a few minutes. Your delicious sandwich is ready!

Chocolate Croissant

If you're in the mood to put your feet up and cool off but still want to enjoy a croissant with a delicious filling, you can opt for Theobroma's Pain au Chocolat. Croissants are made by folding bars of pure Kuvecher chocolate into the Danish pastry dough. With every bite, you're treated to a burst of melted chocolate!
