How To Make Cake At Home Without All Purpose Flour (Maida)

Ingredients required :

  • 1 and 3/4 cups wheat flour
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs (bananas if you want the cake eggless)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water

Cake recipe (serves 3-4): 

  1. Go ahead and preheat your oven to 350°F or 180°C.
  2. In a large-sized bowl, you need to whisk all the dry ingredients together. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Add eggs/banana, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and your vanilla extract and mix all the ingredients thoroughly to leave lumps or just use a mixer at medium speed until all the ingredients are well combined.
  4. Slowly add the water to the mixture while you continue mixing the ingredients. You will see a thin batter forming and that is perfect.
  5. Now mix your dry ingredients with your liquid ingredients and stir gently till well combined. Do not over mix and make sure you use a gentle hand while mixing the ingredients.
  6. Take two baking pans and grease them with unsalted butter.
  7. Pour the mixture into the pans equally and bake for 30-35 minutes in the oven.
  8. Poke a toothpick into the centre after 30 minutes and if it comes out clean your cake is well baked.
  9. Cool the cake in a pan for 5-10 minutes and place it on a plate after that to cool completely.
  10. You can add melted chocolate on top of the cake for more flavour but it is optional.

How to plate your chocolate cakes:

  • If you like a simple presentation, evenly cut a piece of the cake and serve it on a clean ceramic plate for an elegant look and clean presentation.
  • If you like to add more flavour and texture to your cake slice, drizzle melted (dark or white)chocolate on top of the cake slice and sprinkled a few chocolate chips over it to give it a smooth and crunchy texture in every bite.
  • The classic chocolate cake decoration is a cake slice sprinkled with a thin layer of powdered sugar and a fresh fruit slice on top to make it look appetising and super delicious.
